I have not always been good friends with the feeling of patience, and I still have to nurture that relationship. Otherwise, it can quickly get out of hand. I have to sit with the feeling of patience and allow that feeling to move through me without resistance.
My spiritual guides repeatedly tell me that my progress is moving as it should. Not too fast and not too slow – just right. Being a human being, I don’t often agree with this on a physical level, but on a spiritual level, I know they are right – this is where patience becomes crucial.
Conversely, I think to set goals I very important because it gives our mind a point to focus on in the future. An area to work towards, and goals + purpose gives us human beings meaning in life.
What I am trying to say here is that there is a balance to be found between patience, not wasting our time, expectations and working with determination towards our goals. At any moment in time, we have to interrogate which one of those factors that we need to lean on for reflection.
Is this a moment to be patient?
Am I wasting my time? Do I need to let go of this project?
Have I set too high expectations?
Should I continue working with determination?
Answering any of those questions requires self-awareness, confidence and trust in your own decision making.
